| NEK CHAND'S OUTSIDER ART | | Nek Chand's Outsider Art: The Rock Garden of Chandigarh is an inspirational book celebrating the spirit of creativity. Over forty years ago, Chand worked as a road inspector in Chandigarh in northern India. Each evening after work, he mounted his bicycle and carried hundreds of stones to an abandoned jungle clearing. Here he built extraordinary sculptures by combining the stones with urban debris: corroded wires, bicycle parts, and broken bracelets. He worked in secret at night to create a "kingdom of gods and goddesses", peopled by intriguing characters and multicolored animals. Today this "kingdom" covers more than 30 acres and is the second most visited site in India. Published by Flammarion. SOLD OUT |
